The Powerball Lotto 5-of-59 plus "Powerball" 1-of-39

It is a Multi-State Lottery these are the participants: Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Dist. Of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Drawings are held twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59p.m. (EST). Deadline for on-line orders through H.M.E. is 2:00p.m. (EST) on Wednesday and Friday.

You pick 5 numbers between 1 and 59 plus one additional number between 1 and 36 (Powerball). This creates overall odds of 1 in 35.11 for winning one of the prizes. Players can win prizes for matching just one number (Powerball). The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are approximately 1 in 195 million.

There are nine ways to win seven different prizes. The Powerball jackpot is parimutuel, that is it depends on the number of dollars wagered and the number of winners. The minimum Powerball jackpot is $10 million. See prize structure for more details and odds. The jackpot is paid as a 30 year annuity, or as cash prize (approximately half the estimated jackpot, less taxes). Winning Powerball tickets are valid for 180 days. All wins must be collected in the State the ticket was puchased. 

Jackpot winners have 60 days to decide CASH or Annuity payments.
